Neither our customers nor our service engineers like to be spending too much time on administrative tasks. This is very understandable, but at the same time the modern technical world relies more and more on the registration of accurate data.  

Especially with the large rollout of smart meters and the increasing shortage of trained engineering staff, reading the remaining conventional meters is going to become an ever growing challenge if we would keep on doing it the old way. That’s why at Stedin we are always looking for means to gather our information in a smarter way.  

Since ‘filling out forms’ is something that is deeply ingrained in our day to day life, our typical response to making something smarter would be to ‘reinvent the form’. Blicker allows us to get rid of these forms all together changing them to the simple act of taking a picture! 

Blicker gives our customers the option to perform an expert meter reading themselves, whenever they want, using their smartphone. I believe that in this digital age we can use technology such as this to enable our customers to do many of the processes we would traditionally do ourselves. This requires however that we have to make it as easy as possible. Blicker does exactly that, without loss of accuracy. In the end there is nothing more simple than just taking a picture to gather your data! 

For Stedin this is a great alternative to costly and time-consuming house visits of expert field engineers, whom we’d rather free up to work less on administration and more on the real engineering challenges faced in the energy transition.
